Rubber-coated N42 neodymium magnet with an M8 threaded stud, rated at 65 lb of pull. It's the magnet built into our Starlink Mini Magnetic Mount and Magnetic Enclosure, sold on its own as a spare or replacement.
Which magnet do I need? If the magnets on your mount are black, rubber-coated and about 66 mm (2.6") across, this is your replacement. If they're steel-cased and about 50.8 mm (2") across, or you have the Hybrid Mount, order the 48 lb encased ceramic magnet instead. The two sizes aren't interchangeable.
Rubber Coating
The black rubber coating helps protect painted surfaces from scratches, resists chipping and corrosion, and adds grip against sliding on steel. Wipe the surface and the magnet clean before mounting, since grit trapped underneath can still mark paint.
Good to Know
- Pull ratings are the manufacturer's maximum figures. Paint, rust, curved panels and anything between the magnet and the steel reduce real-world holding force.
- Strong magnet: keep it away from pacemakers and other medical implants, and handle it carefully to avoid pinched fingers.
- Not for lifting.
